ROWpen House

JOIN US FOR ONE (of two) UPCOMING FALL ROWPEN HOUSES, Saturday, January 16 FROM 10-11AM at the Recovery on Water headquarters located in the Bridgeport Art Center. This event is an opportunity to learn about the sport of rowing, the ROW team, and our programming. Though free to any survivor or current patient of breast cancer we do ask that you register for the event here. If you’re unable to make this event but are interested in learning more about ROW you can still fill out the registration form and let us know exactly that.

We, as a program welcome all ages, stages and fitness levels. While the sport is technically and physically challenging, rowing is also accessible, safe and fun. Many of the survivors and patients we serve consider ROW the silver lining of their breast cancer diagnosis. Now you have the opportunity to join a great team of women that support each other while they get fit, fight back, and have fun.

As the fall season has come to a close we have moved off the water and indoors for winter training. This is a great time to learn how to row as the winter is when we focus on individual technique and fitness on the rowing machines (called ergs). Rowing on an erg is a full-body, little to no-impact exercise that can give you a satisfying workout no matter how much time you spend on it. If you plan on attending the ROWpen House on Saturday make sure to wear comfortable athletic wear that isn’t too loose fitting (as it can get caught in the equipment).

ROW is team that belongs to its members. We provide a welcoming and supportive environment so survivors from all walks of life can be as active in their recovery as they choose. We look forward to seeing you at practice soon and making you a part of the ROW family.
