Meet Dwanna “Donnie” Edwards

Diagnosis: Stage 1, triple negative, ductal invasive carcinoma

Treatment: Lumpectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy

Currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer? Five years of Anastrozole (Arimidex)

Did you have a regular exercise regimen before joining ROW? A few months prior to joining ROW I had started attending a breast cancer boot camp exercise program

When did you join ROW? April, 2015

Thoughts from Donnie: “I had always been fascinated by the sport of rowing because it seemed both challenging and invigorating .

I saw a news segment on ROW shortly after it was founded but I was not a survivor at the time. A year after suffering multiple strokes I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was excited about the opportunity to join ROW.

It just so happened that a ROW team member was attending the exercise class I was enrolled in. When I saw her team shirt I told her how badly I wanted to join ROW and as faith would have it ROW, was holding an open house the very next day and the rest, as they say, is history.

This team is comprised of a wonderful coaching staff and a group of Really Outstanding Women who have shared the battle with breast cancer and can relate to what you have been through and therefore serve as a wonderful source of support and inspiration.”
