Thoughts from Vicki: “I woke up on Valentine’s Day 2005 and, while in the shower, discovered a lump in my right breast. Unsure what this could be, I called my doctor and had her look at it. The next week I was scheduled for a mammogram. Within three hours I had a mammogram, an ultrasound and then a biopsy. The next week I got my results with confirmation that I had breast cancer.

At that point my journey began. In surgery, my lump was removed along with 23 lymph nodes. Not long after that, 16 weeks of chemo began and I had a difficult time, reacting with all the symptoms I had hope I would not have. Then 36 rounds of radiation. Without the support of my family and friends I know I would have had a more difficult time. They encouraged me and gave me the strength I needed and understood when I needed to rest.

Being in ROW is inspiring and is a great challenge for me.”
